Absoluten Calfeutrail 19.12.09

Absoluten Calfeutrail will appear as part of the 50/50 event during What Is Music? 2009:

Update: This performance is now available to stream from the ABC Classic FM website (Real Player or Windows Media). I believe my personal contributions occur at 11:00, 47:00 and 49:00.

19 December 2009

Iwaki Auditorium
ABC Southbank Centre, Southbank Blvd, Melbourne

50/50
Fifty artists in fifty minutes

Doors at 7.30pm, concert starts 8pm sharp.

Tickets $20/15 at the door

The rules of 50/50 are thus: 50 bands playing in 50 minutes. One minute per group, no breaks.

Think of the 50/50 project as a living, breathing mixtape, with everything from experimental to jazz to noise to metal to minimalist improv to rock to pop to hiphop to spoken diatribes. Something for everyone, and if you don't like a band then there's less than 60 seconds left until the next one! An event that won't likely be seen ever again, you won't want to miss this speedy sonic degustation.

Participating artists:
Carolyn Connors, Breathing Shrine, DJ 2, Francis Plagne Band, Clare Cooper, Curse ov Dialect, Robin Fox, Tim O'Dwyer Trio, pig&machine, Candlesnuffer+Son, Fabio Umberto, Jon Rose, Shit to the Spirit, Mim Kyhr, Agents of Abhorrence, Dead Ants Rainbow, Poletopra, Maya Victoria, Erick Mitsak, Nomex, Sex On Toast, Robert Piotrowicz+Lloyd Honeybrook, DJ Arsecrack, Anna Zaradny, hercel, Rank Sinatra, Charles Ives Singers, Greg Kingston and Robbie Avenaim, Julian Culpan, Bum Creek, Pat O'Brien Allstars, Occult Blood, Hotel Wrecking City Traders, The Bat Device, Ivens, Mark Lossier, Agonhymn, Scratchplate vs. BSE, elise&jem, Steve Law+Scott Hamilton, Mechanical Performers, Adam Simmons, Vijay Thillaimuthu, Absoluten Calfeutrail, Ernie Althoff, Golden Fur Trio.

I have no idea who the 'Pat O'Brien Allstars' are - but my hope is that it is a bunch of people all rocking an awesome Pat O'Brien look.

Dead Boomers 14.12.09

Next Dead Boomers live is a collaboration with Lloyd Honeybrook at the Old Bar (74-76 Johnston Street, Fitzroy) Monday 14 December 2009. This show is a part of the What Is Music? Festival, and also features Shayne Bowden (Japan) & Rob Mayson, Green Beret and Aux Assembly, with films by Eli Partridge and Christina Tester in between the action. Tickets are ten bucks at the door. There is a kind of weird write up for this show on the WIM? website that plays up the harsh noise element of this show a little heavily; it really isn't gonna be a wall of hell from start to finish. There are a range of interesting components involved in fact, not just awesome angry erections. Incidentally, this is the second last regular Sabbatical show at the Old Bar - our last will take place Thursday 21 January 2010.

Dead Boomers 27.11.09

Next Dead Boomers live is a private party, starting at 8pm Friday 27 November. Also playing are Galactagogue, Poority and Holy Boner. Drop me a line for the details if you would like to come on down. I played solo in the kitchen of this residence last year; good times had by all.

Absoluten Calfeutrail 25.11.09

Next Absoluten Calfeutrail live is at Horse Bazaar Wednesday 25 November as a part of a series of shows at the venue curated by Marco Fusinato titled Hatred of Fantastic. Also performing on this occasion are Forth Impact! and Mr. JK Fuller. Kicks off at 8:30pm; $10 full $5 concession. A flyer for this series of shows can be found over here.

Dead Boomers 21.11.09

Next Dead Boomers live happens from 6pm Saturday 21 November at Horse Bazaar (397 Little Lonsdale Street Melbourne VIC) with Vainamoinen (Anna Vo/Dan Brady duo) and the Mitchell Brennan / Lachlan Gale duo (which I believe is now known as Hrvatska). Note that early start - this is supposed to be done and dusted by 9pm, leaving you free to go do something with your evening that will no doubt be just awful. Flyer for this show and a number of related others (including our November Sabbatical night at the Old Bar) to be found here.
